Work to improve safety at a bridge on the A85 Oban to Loch Etive road is under way, with motorists being advised to expect delays for the next three weeks.
Ground works at Stonefield Bridge, east of Connel, commenced last night in preparation for the installation of new signs to warn approaching motorists of the bridge ahead.
The signs are being installed as part of trunk route operator Bear Scotland’s remit to improve road safety.
During the first phase of the project, engineers will install a power supply in the verges on either side of the bridge.
The device will alert drivers of oncoming traffic and queues, and provide information about the bridge’s height and width.
Eddie Ross, Bear Scotland’s north-west representative, said: “This project on the A85 at Stonefield Bridge will allow for vital work ahead of the installation of new signs which will take place later this year.
“This work forms part of our commitment to improving road safety on the trunk road network, ensuring it remains safe and reliable for all road users.”
During the overnight works, a number of traffic control measures will remain in place.
Temporary traffic lights and a 30mph speed limit will be in place during the working hours of 9pm and 5am to ensure the safety of road workers and motorists.
