Oban lifeboat crews were out in force this week when they were called into action twice within a matter of hours.
The RNLI team was first requested to assist two people stranded on board a yacht west of Kerrera after it began drifting in light winds due to engine failure.
Upon arrival, shortly after 1.25pm on Wednesday, a crew member climbed aboard to attach a tow line before proceeding safely back to Oban bay by 2.30pm.
Ally Cerexhe, Oban lifeboat’s coxswain said: “As boat owners begin to take to the water again, we’d like to remind everyone to make sure their engines have been checked and are in good working order after the long period of no use, before setting off.”
At 11.20pm the crew were requested for a second time following reports of an aircraft ditching to the south of Mull.
As the crew assembled at the station, it was established the aircraft was not in danger and was deemed a false alarm with good intent.
