NHS Highland have launched an appeal for volunteers to help keep patients moving safely.
The Highland Health board are looking to recruit a team of volunteers to help deal with an increase in patients and visitors as clinics recommence following the easing of lockdown.
Volunteers will be required to take on a number of roles including directing staff, patients and visitors at hospitals across the north as well as collecting and transporting bags to inpatient wards.
Most of the positions will be based at Raigmore Hospital – however, officials are interested in hearing from people considering taking up positions across the Highlands and Argyll and Bute.
NHS Highland’s Volunteer Services Manager, Ian McConnell said: “We cannot underestimate the help that we have had over these past weeks from our volunteers and we are hoping to expand on that.
“Our volunteers are so important to us and over the years the support they have given us has been invaluable to the organisation. I look forward to talking to anyone who may be interested or is keen in finding out more.”
All volunteers will be provided with full PPE and training as well as regular infection prevention input from nurses.
Anyone interested can contact Ian McConnell, Volunteer Services Manager on 01463 704867 or at Ian.mcconnell1@nhs.net to arrange an ‘expression of interest visit’.
