An Inverness-based Rotary club has generously donated four tablets to Highland Hospice patients.
The donation of the Huawei devices has totalled a cost of more than £500 with funds granted from the Rotary Club of Inverness Loch Ness (RCLIN), alongside Rotary’s international covid fund.
Over the course of the past 12 weeks, members of RCLIN have been putting aside the cost of their lunch with all gathered monies going towards helping provide assistance in the local community.
Highland Hospice has been in operation for more than 30 years providing care to Highlanders and their families and carers, who are living with advancing, life-shortening illnesses.
More than 1,000 people are delivered aid from Highland Hospice each year through direct support or through palliative care in the community.
Jennie Devlin, an occupational therapist at Highland Hospice, said: “We want to say a massive thank you to members of the RCLIN for their very thoughtful and generous donation of four tablets to the Highland Hospice.
“The tablets will be added to a loan library of technology that can be given to community patients to facilitate access to our online support such as video group sessions and other virtual resources.
“We have patients ready to receive these tablets along with advice and support from hospice staff to get online, so they will be very gladly received.”
The donation comes just a month after the club pledged £1,000 to assist Blythswood Care run the Highland Foodbank, where more than 7,000 people are supported on average each year.
