A businessman has died after plunging 1,000ft off a cliff in the Cairngorms National Park.
Daniel Leaf, 55, of Edinburgh, was with a group of friends when the accident happened on a ridge known as the Prow in the Ben Alder area on Saturday.
The Royal Navy helicopter airlifted Mr Leaf, a father of one, from the scene.
However he died from his injuries.
A police spokesman said: “On Saturday May 24, we received a report of a hillwalker having fallen approximately 1,000ft from the Brow on Ben Alder.
“The Royal Navy helicopter, Rescue 177, assisted in the recovery but as a result of his injuries, the man sadly died.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
Mr Leaf was head of investments at the Bank of Scotland’s portfolio management service until 2011, when he took his last post as manager of the Saracen Global income and growth fund in the capital.
