High Life Highland, the north’s culture and leisure organisation, has welcomed the setting of a date for reopening but shares the frustration of customers that it is not sooner.
Chief executive Steve Walsh said First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s announcement was not the news “we have been hoping for” but said measures were already being implemented to deliver an enjoyable and safe experience from September 14.
He said: “I am sure many of our customers will be frustrated they are having to wait a bit longer for their return to our gyms and swimming pools.
“Our priority remains the safety and health of our customers and our staff and we are hopeful customers will understand the decision to reopen our sites is very much out of our hands.”
High Life Highland is also liaising with Highland Council over the use of sporting facilities under the school estate to deliver outdoor sessions.
