Long-serving outdoor pursuits instructor Shaun Roberts has been appointed principal of Scotland’s National Outdoor Training Centre at Glenmore Lodge near Aviemore.
Mr Roberts has worked at the centre for the past 16 years as an instructor and is currently the training officer for Scottish Mountain Rescue and chairman of the Avalanche Group.
He takes over from the current principal Bob Kinnaird on June 16.
Mr Kinnaird has been in the role since 2008 and was previously chief executive at CairnGorm Mountain Ltd.
He said: “Shaun Roberts has established an outstanding reputation delivering exceptional training standards for Glenmore Lodge within our mountain and paddlesports activities.
“I am confident he will bring a wealth of experience to the role and I am reassured about the future of Glenmore Lodge with Shaun leading the way.”
Mr Roberts said he was “delighted and honoured” by the appointment.
He said: “I have been working as part of the centre for many years and recognise the exceptional work it does in terms of providing wide reaching, positive and lasting impact upon outdoor professionals and participants alike.”
