A woman has been airlifted to hospital following a crash north of Oban.
Inspector Julie McLeish of Oban Police Station said: “A Fiat 500 car and a Ford Ka were involved in the crash near Pennyfuir on the A85 Oban to Perth road between Oban and Dunbeg at 2.04pm today.
“The woman driver of the Ford Ka was airlifted by helimed and taken to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow with serious head and back injuries.
“There were no other casulaties.
“The road is expected to remain closed for several hours.”
Two fire crews from Oban Fire Station attended the scene.
Another serious road accident took place in a different area of Argyll almost simultaneously.
At 2.04pm a motorcycle left the A83 Tarbet to Campbeltown road near Loch Fyne Oysters, Cairndow.
The man riding the motorcycle suffered serious injuries, but police said they were not thought to be life-threatening.
The woman who was his pillion passenger was unhurt. The road was closed for an hour before one lane was re-opened and traffic was allowed through.
