Police in Oban searching for a missing woman have discovered a body.
No formal identification has been made, but the family of Mary Petrie, 56, who was reported missing at the weekend, has been informed.
Mrs Petrie, known as May, was last seen on Sunday after leaving her home in Kilninver near Oban to go for a walk and the alarm was raised when she failed to return.
A search was launched with members of Oban mountain rescue team and Oban coastguard rescue joining police. A public appeal was also made for any information or sightings.
A police spokesman said: “Around 1040 am this morning, Monday, 17 August, 2020, the body of a woman was discovered by officers searching for 56-year-old Mary Petrie who has been missing from her home in Kilninver, south of Oban, since 8 am yesterday morning.
“The identity of the deceased has not been confirmed, however, Mrs Petrie’s family have been made aware.
“Inquiries are continuing.”
