The 32-year-old man who died following a road crash near Wick has been named as Garry Aikman.
A 26-year-old woman and three-month-old baby were taken to Caithness General Hospital with serious injuries in the aftermath of the one-vehicle collision on Sunday.
A three-year-old girl and two boys, aged six and eight, were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and were later transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The family of Mr Aikman, from Wick, released a statement saying: “The whole family is devastated by the tragic loss of Garry. He was a much-loved grandson, son, brother, father and nephew.
“His loss will be sorely felt by us all and we are still in shock. We would ask that we are given privacy to come to terms with what has happened.”
The crash happened around 4pm on the A99 at the Freswick Bridge and involved a grey Vauxhall Vectra.
Highlands and Islands Road Policing Sergeant Kate Park said: “Our thoughts are with Garry’s family at this time. We are continuing with enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact the Road Policing Unit based at Dingwall through 101, quoting incident number 2370 of Sunday, 6 September.”
