Police in the Highlands are attempting to trace the driver of a vehicle involved in a crash in the small hours today.
The single-vehicle crash, which occurred on the B9165 Loandhu to Portmahomack road near Fearn, demanded the attention of fire and police around 1.20am.
Fire crews extinguished the Vauxhall Astra after smoke was spotted, however, the occupants were not present as emergency services arrived.
A police spokesman said: “We can confirm that a car was found around 1.20am on Wednesday September 9 after it was involved in a crash on the B9165 near Fearn.
“The vehicle was unoccupied and inquiries are ongoing to trace the driver and establish the full circumstances.”
Fire crews from Balintore, Invergordon and Tain were alerted at 1.55am, with firefighters using one hose reel jet.
Firefighters also assisted police in their searches for the driver.
Crew paged at 01:56 along with Tain and Invergordon to a single vehicle RTC.
Crews made the scene safe and assisted police with search for occupant(s).

The fire crews were stood down at 2.14am.
