Lochaber Provincial Mod in Fort William has been hailed a great success by organisers, with a good number of entries and high standards throughout.
Event secretary Linda Campbell said she was very pleased with the way the event had gone this year.
She said: “We had a good number of entries, including more entries from Mallaig than usual, and the standard has been high.”
Ms Campbell added that new classes for the accordion, clarsach and fiddle were introduced this year, based on ability rather than age.
She said: “We introduced beginners, intermediate and advanced categories to give the children an opportunity to compete against others of the same level as them and it seems to have worked well.
“We are hoping this will attract more entries for these instruments in future years.”
Faye MacKinnon, of Roy Bridge, who attends Fort William Gaelic medium school, came first for conversation and solo singing of a prescribed song and second in her fiddle and clarsach categories.
Her mother, Catherine MacKinnon, said the eight-year-old had done very well, considering she had not being playing the clasarch or the fiddle for very long.
She said: “Faye has only just started both instruments, so we’re very pleased with her achievements and she is doing very well with her singing.”
