The Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Invergordon community hospital will re-open next month.
The MIU, which closed earlier this year due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic, will be accessible by appointment only from Monday October 5, to ensure the safety of staff and patients.
Appointments will be allocated by an advanced nurse practitioner following a telephone triage.
Heather Hynd, advanced nurse practitioner for its East Highland out-of-hours service, said: “The decision to introduce an appointment-only booking system is to ensure all of our staff and patients remain safe during the Covid-19 pandemic. Exceptions will be made in an emergency situation.
“The service will run between 8am and 6pm and appointments can be made by patients and clinicians via the MIU number below.
“We would appeal to members of the public not to visit the MIU without an appointment.
“Patients who have symptoms of Covid-19 must not attend the MIU.”
Local councillor Carolyn Wilson said the reopening of of MIU was welcome.
She said: “It offers a wonderful service, appreciated by the whole community.
“It’s been much missed, and having it open again means people won’t have to travel in to Raigmore.”
To access the appointment service for MIU, clinicians and patients must contact 07786 190810. An ANP will triage calls and provide the patient with an appointment if required. Consultations via NHS Near Me can also be arranged if appropriate.
