Police have tonight named the 86-year-old driver who died following a fatal car crash near Grantown on Wednesday.
Matthew Donnell from Grantown died after the black Peugeot 2008 he was driving collided with a DAF articulated lorry on the A939 Old Military Road near Dava, approximately four-and-a-half miles north of Grantown.
An 81-year-old female, who was a passenger in the vehicle, remains in Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where she was taken by paramedics following the crash.
Her condition has been described by medics as serious.
Police have since relaunched an appeal for information and have asked anyone who witnessed the crash or may be in possession of dashcam footage to come forward.
Sergeant David Miller, of the north road policing unit, said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Donnell’s family.
“I would ask anyone who may have been driving along that stretch of road before the collision happened to get in touch and to check if they have any dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation.
“If you can help please call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0987 of Wednesday October 7, 2020.”
