Due to the ground already being saturated following recent bad weather, the Met Office has warned it may cause an increased risk of flooding.
According to the forecaster, there is a small chance homes and businesses in the affected area could be flooded, and fast flowing or deep floodwater may cause a danger to life.
The weather is also expected to have an impact on train and bus services in the region, and may also cause difficult driving conditions.
The forecaster said: “There is the potential for some very unsettled weather through the coming weekend, especially across southern, central and western Scotland with periods of heavy rain expected through Saturday and, after a respite overnight, Sunday.
“The rain will fall onto already saturated ground increasing the risk of flooding.”
