A car left parked in Dingwall overnight has been destroyed after a suspected deliberate fire-raising.
And less than an hour later two wheelie bins were set alight in the same area.
Police and fire personnel are investigating all three incidents and fire-raising by the same person or persons is suspected
The car was parked outside a newspaper office in Dochcarty Road in the Ross-shire town and was reported at 3.07am.
One appliance from Dingwall attended the scene and used one hose-reel jet to extinguish the blaze – but the car was completely destroyed.
The fire crews were soon called back out to the wheelie bins which had been set on fire at around 3.52am and placed near a house in Millbank Road.
One of the bins was left near an open window and some smoke entered the property.
No one was injured during either incident.
Police Scotland are treating the incidents as suspicious and are now carrying out inquiries.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service group manager Phil Green said: “Deliberately set fires are dangerous. They also waste time and money, and keep our crews away from other emergencies.
“These kinds of fires put people’s lives and property in danger.
He added: “By keeping wheelie bins out of sight, stored away from the building and, if possible, behind locked gates these risks can be reduced.
“We would ask residents and businesses to follow these precautions to eliminate the risks of deliberate wheelie bin fires.”
