The 62-year-old became disorientated while sailing near Loch Aline on Saturday afternoon. His wife contacted Stornoway Coastguard, and the Oban lifeboat was launched around 12.50pm. The woman started sailing the 32ft yacht, called Balchis, toward Oban but the lifeboat reached them at 1.23pm. On advice from the crew’s doctor, the lifeboat crew took the man onboard to speed-up his journey to the town. He was transferred to a waiting ambulance when he arrived in the port at 2.30pm and he was taken to Lorn and the Isles Hospital for treatment. Two volunteers remained with the yacht to help sail it to Oban.
