Eight fire teams battled a huge wild fire on the West Coast for around seven hours today.
The huge fire began on the Scoraig peninsula, south of Ullapool, which neighbours Loch Broom.
The blaze began at around 2.30pm and raged almost all day, with fire crews called from all over the West Coast to the remote spot to tackle the fire using beaters and knapsacks.
The fire is said to have started at Auchmore and have spread to the Scoraig side of the island.
It was brought under control at around 10pm.
Fire crews were being transported from Ullapool to the inaccessible area by Lochinver lifeboat.
There were fears for residents of the area, and the area’s native wildlife.
Two fire teams from Ullapool, along with crews from Aultbey, Achiltibuie, Gairloch, Torredon, Invergordon and Cromarty tackled the fire.
Meanwhile, Highland fire crews are still battling a blaze near Loch Duntelchaig, Loch Ness, which started at 3.50pm.
Two crews are currently on standby, with the fire said to be spreading.
There is currently no threat to life due to the fire.
