The MV Isle of Lewis’ hydraulically operated mezzanine deck – needed to carry extra vehicles on the very busy weekend sailing – failed to work. Operator Caledonian Macbrayne said the delay was caused by a “technical issue.” The ship’s engineers worked for hours to try to fix the problem. The vessel missed its lunchtime departure slot and eventually sailed for Ullapool around 5.20pm. The return voyage was also delayed as a result.
