A flotilla of kayakers will paddle down the Argyll coast next week to officially open a sea trail for water sport fans.
The Argyll Sea Kayak Trail, which follows the coastline from Oban to Helensburgh, has been completed and will officially next week in time for the Commonwealth Games.
A relay team of paddlers will take to the water next week for a four day journey, starting from the northernmost point at Ganavan near Oban on Monday.
They plan to finish 108 miles later in Helensburgh on Friday.
The team will also join up with the official Commonwealth Flotilla at the end of their journey and will board the the Clyde Clipper in Glasgow on Saturday, July 26.
The trail is a project jointly delivered by Argyll and Bute Council and the Oban-based social enterprise, Stramash.
They have also worked with local paddle sport clubs in the design of the official trail.
The trial goes from Oban to Seil, Arduaine, Crinan, Toward, Dunoon and Helensburgh.
It has a number of official launch sites on the shoreline.
The trail has already created two jobs – a paddling development coordinator and a training and apprentices co-ordinator.
Four apprentice positions have also been created – two with Stramash themselves and two at the Lochgoilhead National Activity Centre.
The project was funded by the coastal communities fund, Argyll, the Isles Leader programme and Argyll and Bute Council and cost around £300,000.
