Young musicians from the Highlands are taking to the road this week to play ceilidh music at more than 200 events including the Commonwealth Games Glasgow2014 Festival.
More than 40 young people from seven feis groups will play to thousands of people as part of their annual Cèilidh Trails tours.
Collectively the fèisean offer tuition in traditional music, Gaelic song, drama and traditional dance to around 6,000 young people annually.
The project is supported by Creative Scotland and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
On July 28 as part of the Glasgow2014 Festival, several Cèilidh Trails will appear in a Ceòl nam Fèis showcase at Glasgow Green with Gaelic singer Linda MacLeod and instrumentalist Sìleas Sinclair.
The groups will also be appearing alongside traditional music powerhouse, Breabach, in a special event later that evening at Loch Lomond Shores.
The young musicians have been receiving expert guidance from top musicians and tutors Ewen Henderson, Sileas Sinclair and Fiona MacAskill before hitting the road.
Arthur Cormack, Fèisean nan Gàidheal’s chief executive said: “Cèilidh Trails are a great oppotunity for young people to gain skills that will stand them in good stead should they wish to make their living as a musician. It gives them a first-hand experience of life as a touring musician and all the preparation that goes into making that a success, as well as giving young people a summer job doing something they enjoy and providing a great musical experience for tourists and locals alike.”
