Police are appealing for information after a female conductor on a train travelling between Inverness and Wick was assaulted and verbally abused.
The incident happened at about 8.15pm on Sunday, July 6, and involved the 51-year-old woman being pushed off the stationary train at Thurso station by a man say British Transport Police.
The man is described as aged in his 50s, about 6ft tall, well built and bald. He was wearing a light blue football top, a pink hooded top, jeans and trainers.
The man was also carrying a bottle of vodka at the time and is reported to have made remarks of a sexual nature toward the conductor and shouted and swore during the journey.
It is believed that the man responsible was with a group of other men, who attempted to diffuse the incident.
They may have also attended a friendly football fixture at Brora earlier in the day which involved the Highland side playing Glasgow Rangers.
The conductor was uninjured during the incident.
Detective Constable David McAllister, the officer in charge of the inquiry, is appealing for anyone who was on the train and saw what happened to come forward.
He said: “Rail staff should be able to carry out their duties without encountering such deplorable behaviour.”
Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or by texting 61016.
