The Commonwealth Games opening and closing ceremonies are to be screened live and free of charge across the country.
Among those putting on the show in the Highlands and islands are Vue Cinema, Inverness, the Picture House, Campbeltown, Thurso Cinema, Spey Valley Cinema, Aviemore and the Phoenix Cinema in Kirkwall.
Vue Cinema in Aberdeen city centre and Moray Playhouse in Elgin will also screen the ceremonies.
The shows are being facilitated by Inverness based economic development agency Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).
HIE’s Claire Simers said: “We wanted to get communities beyond the main Commonwealth Games involved and for them to experience this major event for themselves. By screening the opening and closing ceremonies at local cinemas, it’s just one of the events we hope will bring people together and instil a sense of pride in the games and Scotland itself.”
The opening ceremony will be screened tonight at 9pm.
The closing ceremony will be screened on Sunday, August 3.
