A drunk man sparked a search of Oban Bay in the middle of the night.
At 2am today police received a report of a pile of clothes found on the beach.
Oban Lifeboat was launched and carried out an intensive search along the shoreline from the North Pier to Dunollie Point.
The lifeboat was stood down at 3.30am when a man who owned the clothes was found intoxicated, but otherwise safe and well.
A spokeswoman for Stornoway Coastguard said: “Police requested assistance in a search after clothes were found on the shoreline.
“The lifeboat was launched but later stood down after police located a person who was intoxicated, but safe and well.”
Oban Lifeboat was out earlier last night. At 10pm it was called to the isle of Mull to take two non-emergency, unrelated NHS patients to Oban, who were then taken to Lorn and the Isles Hospital.
Portree Lifeboat was also out last night. At half past midnight, it went to a yacht off Skye where a distress alert had been activated.
The Coastguard spokeswoman said: “It turned out to be an accidental activation.”
