Four fire crews were tonight tackling a wildfire that split into two fronts on Orkney.
The fire service was informed of the blaze near Finstown around 6.20pm with two crews from Stromness and two from Kirkwall sent.
Grass was reported on fire and had split into two fronts, with one spanning between 100 (328ft) to 150 metres (492ft), with the other around 450metres (1476ft) long.
Crews tackled the blaze before they were forced to retreat from the hillside due to poor lighting as darkness set in.
A fire spokesman said there were still a small number of hotspots and smouldering.
Meanwhile, a Skye fire crew were also sent to a fire in a forest.
The Portree crew were paged around 8.05pm to Glen Brittle Forest.
The spokesman said crews arrived on scene shortly before 10pm.
“Crews are on a watching brief just now, to see which direction it is heading in,” he added.
“It’s quite difficult to access it in the dark and I think the wind is changing.
“They will intervene if they have to, if it gets near the forest.”
Earlier on Thursday, two fire crews were tackling a wildfire near Morar.
The fire was reported around 5.20pm with a crew from Mallaig initially sent.
A second crew from Acharacle was requested to attend, with eight firefighters in total on scene.
