The body of a man has been recovered from a Highland Munro following a major land and air search for a missing hillwalker.
Three mountain rescue teams, two helicopters and search and rescue dogs were involved in the search, which started at around 8pm on Saturday when police received a call to say a man had failed to return from a walk on 3,537ft Ben Starav in Glen Etive.
And it concluded when the body was found near Coire Lotha in Glen Etive soon after 1.15pm yesterday.
The man, who has not been named, is understood to have been in his 50 and a visitor to the area.
A police spokesman said the search of the area was commenced by members of Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team on Saturday evening.
However, due to poor weather conditions, the search was stood down at around 4am.
He said: “Searches recommenced at around 8am yesterday, with members of Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team, Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team and Oban Mountain Rescue Team.
“Assistance was provided by Rescue 137 Search and Rescue Helicopter and the Search and Rescue Dogs Association.
“Around 9.45am, Rescue 177 Search and Rescue Helicopter took over search duties from Rescue 137.
