A group of campers are being reported to the procurator fiscal for alleged littering and damaging the environment.
The five men from the Glasgow area were camping and fishing at Loch Awe in Argyll, near the A819 Inveraray to Dalmally road.
Police went to their campsite on Saturday following a complaint about noise.
Sergeant Mike Wood of Oban police station said: “Police witnesses found numerous empty bottles and cans and a burned tent which had melted into the grass. Tree branches had been hacked off.
“They have been reported for the mess under the Environment Protection Act 1990.
“This is a beautiful area and people are welcome to come and enjoy it. But if they are going to behave in a certain way, and deface the area, we will police it robustly.
“All visitors must have due regard and respect for the area.”
