A north lifeboat was called out last night to assist a vessel with a broken propeller.
Thurso RNLI lifeboat was alerted at around 7.15pm when the propeller failed on a Sea Otter narrow boat in the Thurso Bay area.
A spokeswoman for Shetland Coastguard said that a piece of rope got caught in the propeller.
When the lifeboat reached the boat and its crew of three people, they worked together to get the device running again.
The Sea Otter was then escorted by the lifeboat down the River Thurso to a mooring, arriving there at about 7.50pm.
A spokeswoman for Shetland Coastguard said: “We got a call at 7.15pm from a Yoal Sea Otter boat. Their propeller had failed when a piece of rope was caught up in the blades.
“When they called they were in the Thurso Bay area and they were taken back up the river to a mooring by about 7.50pm.
“No-one was injured or required hospital treatment.”
