Four horses are seen to be huddling together on a tiny island created by mass flooding near Carrbridge in the Highlands.
The image, sent in by Press and Journal reader and wildlife photographer Mark Hamblin, was taken this afternoon at the peak of the extreme weather gripping the north of Scotland.
It’s not known at this stage whether the horses were rescued from the tiny strip of land.
It’s not the first image to emerge of animals in jeopardy as a result of the floods with pigs having a narrow escape following a major landslip near Nairn.
And a Highland woman had to be rescued after trying to save her sheep from rising floodwater early this morning.
