The public have been consulted on the best way to allocate 40 new housing association homes in Oban.
And people think the houses in the Glenshellach area, named Catalina Avenue, should be allocated by Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) to its existing tenants.
The homes consist of 12 one-bedroom flats, 12 two-bedroom flats and 16 two-bedroom houses.
ACHA held an open day and consultation to determine public opinion on the allocation of the houses.
Alastair MacGregor, ACHA’s chief executive, said: “88% of those who completed the survey believe that it would be good practice to allocate to existing tenants.
“This has the potential to effectively double the number of homes available to the association to let, including larger sized properties and increases the number of applicants in need being housed.”
Councillor Roddy McCuish, of the Oban, South and the Isles ward, said: “I believe this is excellent progress in addressing some of the housing demand in Oban, Lorn and Isles, and in particular would encourage tenants in larger properties no longer suited to their needs, to consider applying to downsize.”
Tenants wishing to be considered for a transfer to Catalina Avenue should contact ACHA’s Oban office on 01546 605930.
