Tobermory Lifeboat was called out today after a member of the public saw a small boat drifting out of control.
Stornoway Coastguard tasked the lifeboat to the scene in the Sound of Mull at 3.36pm.
The small white open-topped boat had four people aboard.
A spokesman for the coastguard said: “A small boat was drifting out of control. It was reported by a member of the public who saw it from the shore and dialled 999.
“It was very close to the shore, at Glenmorven Cottage, four miles from Tobermory, when the lifeboat got to them. It had been taking in water. All four people are safe and well.”
