The man, who is in his 70s, was walking with a friend at Rispond, near Durness, when the incident happened at around 6.30pm. Coastguard teams from Durness, Melness and Kinlochbervie attended the scene, along with police and Stornoway Coastguard helicopter. The man was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. It is understood that he suffered broken ribs, cuts and bruises. Police said that his injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
