The crew of a yacht had to call for help from Invergordon lifeboat after their mast broke yesterday – just 48 hours after the crew dealt with a similar incident .
The Shoshoni, with two people on board, got in the difficulties half a mile out from the Sutors.
They alerted Aberdeen Coastguard at around 2.40pm and Invergordon’s RNLI boat was called out.
Two of the lifeboat crew went onto the Shosoni to help recover the broken mast and the yacht was towed back to Cromarty Harbour.
The crew had to deal with a similar incident on Thursday, when the 32ft yacht, Swiss Roll, became dismasted around 7.5miles north east off Tarbetness Point.
The yacht was on its way from Findhorn to Helmsdale at the time.
A fishing patrol vessel, Minna, also came to assistance and provided a lee while the recovery operation was undertaken and a tow established.
The Swiss Roll was then towed to Cromarty Harbour by the lifeboat.
