The main gateway to the Highlands remains shut in both directions after the serious accident near Dalwhinnie earlier this morning. The one vehicle collision occurred three miles south of the village at around 6.20am. It is understood that the vehicle left the road and ended up in a ditch. The occupant of the vehicle is believed to have died at the scene. Two fire appliances from Pitlochry and Aberfeldy were called out initially however the Aberfeldy crew was turned back. Police crash investigators are understood to be at the scene to carry out their examination. However the road is expected to remain closed for some time. Police have advised motorists to avoid the area however traffic is queuing on the road at both sides of the closure. The only alternative route is via the A82 Crianlarich-Inverness road and the A86 Spean Bridge to Dalwhinnie.
