A visiting cruise liner arrived in Loch Linnhe yesterday bringing almost 400 passengers and crew to Fort William.
Seabourn Legend dropped anchor at around 8am and some of the 200 passengers on board went off on excursions while others took the opportunity to visit the Lochaber town.
The luxury cruise liner, which has a crew of 173, had travelled from Ireland and stopped off in the Highland loch before setting off for the Western Isles yesterday evening.
Lochaber Chamber of Commerce chief executive, Lesley Benfield, said: “We are delighted to welcome Seabourn Legend and her passengers to Lochaber and know they will have had a very good visit.
“Over the years, many cruise ships have visited Fort William as part of their itinerary.
“We would certainly hope this will not only continue, but grow as operators realise just what a diverse range of sights and activities we have to offer in the area and the impressive results of regeneration work in Fort William High Street.”
The local community is keen to attract more cruise liners to the town and ambitions plans have been drawn up for a marina in the harbour.
The favoured and most expensive option would involve building out from the West End car park to create a pier, with a cruise liner berth.
At the moment, cruise liners are unable to dock and passengers have to be brought ashore in small boats.
