A driver who died at the weekend in a car crash on the north’s most notorious road has been named.
Steven McCaig, 37, from Edinburgh, was travelling north on the A9 Inverness-Perth road when the accident happened about three miles south of Dalwhinnie in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The Ford Focus is believed to have gone across the southbound lane and left the straight section of road.
It went down an embankment, across a ditch and finished up in a nearby burn.
Mr McCaig worked for the building contractor Balfour Beatty and was helping to construct the Beauly-Denny powerline.
Work on the scheme is currently taking place in the Dalwhinnie area.
The 37-year-old who had a keen interest in photography was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.
