A west coast school’s science mad pupils have reached the final of a national competition.
Gairloch High School science department is on the shortlist of the 2014-2015 Rolls Royce Science Prize.
Gairloch is the only Scottish school to reach the final of the competition which promotes science and engineering.
However, they have a lot of hard work ahead as they need to develop projects between now and the end of the competition in November 2015 when they will challenge for the £10,000 top prize.
Head teacher, John Port said: “This is a very exciting project for our pupils and I am grateful that teachers will be able to benefit from working alongside our professional partners.
“We have already been awarded £6000 to progress our project over the next year.”
The school will work with experts to develop their understanding of forensic DNA testing.
