A popular footpath at Nevis Range was closed yesterday and will be again today while a helicopter delivers equipment and materials for maintenance work.
The track that has been shut is the route to Meall Beag, which bears right from the top station of the gondola.
Heather Negus, of Nevis Range, near Fort William in Lochaber, explained that it had been closed as a safety precaution and said they wished to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
And she stressed that the path leading to Sgurr Finnisg-aig, in the opposite direction from the top station, remained open.
Ms Negus said: “We can’t fly a helicopter over a track that is open.
“The helicopter is being used to take wood, concrete and steel up the hill to replace bridges and other ski infrastructure ready for the winter.
“Bringing in a helicopter is much more economical that getting the stuff up the mountain in any other way.”
She added that, weather permitting, they hoped to complete the work involving the helicopter today.
