A woman had to be airlifted from Ben Nevis today after suffering from exhaustion.
Emergency services went to the assistance of the hill-walker, who was in her 50s, after her companion made the call asking for help at around 3.15pm.
A Police Scotland spokesman said Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team were called out and Rescue 100, the Coastguard helicopter from Stornoway, which had already been in the area on a training exercise, went to assist.
“Police Scotland can confirm that about 4.30pm, a female hill walker became unwell on Ben Nevis,” he said.
“After medical assessment the female was found to be suffering exhaustion.”
An ambulance service spokeswoman said one of their vehicles met the helicopter at the landing site at Carrs Corner in Fort William and took the woman to the town’s Belford Hospital.
