Death-defying stunt cyclist Danny MacAskill has returned home to Skye for a spectacular ride along one of the world’s most treacherous mountain ridges.
The 28-year-old’s parents feared that he might kill himself with the 7.5 mile ride over the Cuillin mountain range.
But the fearless cyclist even took time out to pull stunts on top of infamous Inaccessible Pinnacle at the summit of Sgurr Dearg.
He then dismantled his £7,500 trial bike and abseiled 150ft off the craggy outcrop for a new online video – due out on Friday.
Mr MacAskill found international fame through films of his spectacular and often dangerous cycle stunts posted online.
Father Peter said: “I was very apprehensive that he would seriously hurt or even kill himself.
“Danny didn’t go into details of what he did, to stop us worrying.”
The cyclist originally hails from Dunvegan on Skye and has been working up to bike the seven-and-a-half-mile airy ridge for years.
Footage from the ride also sees him tackle other landmarks on the world famous Cuillin ridge which is heart-stoppingly narrow in places.
Millions of fans worldwide will be stunned as The Ridge video goes live online on Friday, shot by Glasgow based production company Cut Media.
It will also feature a number of other clips of stunts performed across the north-west Highlands.
Mr MacAskill said: “Although I get to travel the world now, Skye’s very much my home.
“You maybe don’t appreciate it when you live here but it’s quite a magical place.”
The latest clip saw Mr MacAskill and a film crew spending 10 days on a summer shoot that involved long treks over dangerous terrain in the company of expert mountain guides.
Mother Anne said her son was gradually ticking of his wish list of amazing places to ride.
The cyclist first shot to fame when a display of bike handling skills in Edinburgh went viral online.
More recently he has used his abilities to promote the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with a series of bike tricks filmed at the city’s landmarks.
