Mallaig walkers cut off by rising tide

Mallaig Lifeboat picked up two holiday makers who were cut off by the tide today.

The women were walking at Morar estuary when the tide came in and cut them off, a spokeswoman for Stornoway Coastguard said.

Weather conditions were calm when the lifeboat was called to the scene at 4.22pm.

The spokeswoman said: “The lifeboat crew used their smaller “Y-boat” to retrieve them and took them back to Mallaig harbour.”
