Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team has received a donation of £1,200 from the Joint Service Mountain Training Centre (JSMTC), which is a unit of the British Army.
The money, raised by staff and students at the centre, was handed to rescue team leader John Stevenson by Captain Gary Logan at the JSMTC in Ballachuilish.
Mr Stevenson said: “We are very grateful to Joint Services, Gary and his team for this kind gesture, which will go towards equipment for mountain rescue.
“Winter is just round the corner and will place very high demand on our equipment.”
He added that the team had carried out 85 rescues so far this year.
Mr Stevenson said they had yet to decide what equipment they would buy with the money.
But he said they were considering buying a satellite phone because they sometimes had to carry out rescues in areas where there was no mobile phone signal.
