Plans to close one of the north’s busiest roads overnight for nearly two weeks for essential repairs have been delayed due to problems with turning off the overhead power cable.
The A82 Inverness-Fort William road was to have been closed half a mile north of Fort Augustus between Sunday October 26 and Friday November 7.
However, the work will now be carried out between Sunday November 2 and Friday November 7.
The road will shut at 8pm each night and reopen at 6am the following morning.
A Bear Scotland spokesman said: “For the safety of the workforce, the works at ‘Cherry Island’ cannot go ahead without the adjacent overhead power cable being turned off and generators being provided for residential properties within the extent of the site, whilst works are taking place.
“Unfortunately, a two-week lead in time is required to turn off power cables resulting in the proposed works being postponed for one week.”
He added that the work would now be completed in five nights and apologised for any inconvenience caused by the change to the timescale.
