A by-election is taking place for the Oban North and Lorn ward of Argyll and Bute Council on Thursday.
The election has been called following the sudden death of independent councillor John MacGregor, who died from a heart attack in July, less than two weeks after being elected.
The ward includes the areas surrounding Oban from Kilmelford to Bridge of Orchy, and has an electorate of more than 8,000 people.
The candidates are: Kieron Green, Scottish Labour Party; Stephanie Irvine, independent; Iain Stewart MacLean, Scottish National Party; Andrew Vennard, Scottish Conservative and Unionist.
Voting will take place at local polling stations between 7am and 10pm. The count will get underway at 10.30pm at the Corran Halls, Oban.
