A main Argyll route was closed earlier after a drill rig on a hillside started slipping towards the roads.
The specialist drill rig is being used at Strone Point, near Inveraray, on the A83 Tarbet to Campbeltown road, for ground investigation work.
The road was closed for less than an hour and re-opened just after 4pm.
A spokesman for road maintenance company BEAR Scotland said: “Nobody was injured during the incident. It was however necessary to recover the rig from the slope to allow the works to continue. The recovery work had to be undertaken during daylight hours to ensure the safety of the operatives. As the crane used to remove the rig required adequate room to access the desired recovery position it was necessary to close the road for less than one hour to ensure the safety of the travelling public.
“Every effort was made to expedite the recovery operation as quickly as possible and BEAR Scotland apologises for any inconvenience this necessary work may have caused.”
