Police inquiries are continuing into a collision in the Highlands which claimed the life of a 49-year-old woman.
The lone motorist was involved in a collision with another vehicle near the Ardullie roundabout on the A862 Dingwall-Ardullie road at 9.26pm on Friday.
Firefighters had to remove the door of her vehicle to release her from the wreckage.
It is understood that she was taken to Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, but died from her injuries.
A 22-year-old man driving the second vehicle was also taken to Raigmore. Police said that his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Police said that the name of the victim would not be released until next of kin were informed.
A police spokesman said that they were appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
However, they have refused to give further details of the crash or confirm what type of vehicles were involved.
The two-vehicle collision took place less than a mile west of the roundabout, on a series of winding bends.
Small pieces of debris could be seen on the north verge of the road and signs warning drivers about oil on the road were also in place.
The road was closed overnight while crash investigators examined the scene.
