Youngsters are being encouraged to find out about iconic locations and endangered species in the Highlands and islands in an online game.
Tourist organisation, VisitScotland, has joined forces with Habitat, an educational website, to collect virtual pins by visiting one of 21 sites throughout Scotland.
Each is linked with a species, synonymous with the area, which the young people can try to spot as they are earning their pins, which also highlight characteristics of the various locations.
These include Glencoe’s golden eagles, the grey seals of Orkney, Shetland Ponies, Scottish wildcats which live in the Highlands, and pine marten, which populate the Cairngorms.
Designed to teach seven to 12-year-olds ecologically sustainable habits, the free app rewards them for exploring the great outdoors.
