A firework has destroyed part of a public toilet in a north town.
One of the men’s lavatories in Dornoch’s Shore Road was badly damaged in the incident.
The public toilets are located directly behind the bus stop in Dornoch Square in the town centre – a popular arrival and departure point for tourists.
The damaged toilet was replaced yesterday morning, with Highland Council estimating the cost to around £300.
No one is thought to have been injured but the incident was reported to police in Dornoch yesterday morning.
A police spokesman said that inquiries were ongoing.
A spokeswoman for Highland Council said: “The firework has done quite a bit of damage. It has blown the cistern and the toilet pan, and they both needed replacing.”
Yvonne Ross, chairwoman of Dornoch Area Community Council, said: “An incident like this is unheard of in Dornoch. It’s disappointing that it has happened, and I hope they find the people that did it.”
