An emergency diversion road will be used on a landslide-prone route today as forecasters warn of heavy rain.
The Rest and Be Thankful on the A83 Tarbet to Campbeltown road was hit by a landslide on October 28.
Road maintenance company Bear Scotland said good progress has been made with the clear up and repairs to the debris fencing have continued at pace during the recent spell of favourable weather.
However, the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain in the area tomorrow and the operation of the A83 will transfer to the Old Military Road diversion at 10am if conditions play out as expected.
A spokesman for Bear said: “This is a precautionary safety measure due to the heightened risk of a landslide with as much as 30mm of rain expected over Argyll and Bute.
“The Old Military Road operated successfully last week when it was used by tens of thousands of people. It drastically cuts the length of the diversion, keeps the area open for business and saves time and money for motorists.
“We will continue to monitor conditions with further updates issued as necessary. Weather and slope conditions will be reviewed with a view to potentially reopening the A83 during the morning of Friday November 7.”
