Representatives of Argyll and Bute Council met with Transport Scotland in Inveraray yesterday to discuss the landslide prone route.
A spokesman said: “Council officers and representatives from Transport Scotland both agreed that the Old Military Road had operated very successfully, ensuring that Argyll and Bute remained open for business despite the biggest landslide on record. We will be working together towards a more sustainable long-term solution to ensure continuity of access to and from Argyll and Bute.”
Meanwhile, there were further problems on Mull, where the B8035 Salen-Uluvalt road was closed by a landslide at Gruiben. The B8073 was closed by flooding between Gruline/Torloisk and later by a landslide at Ulva. In Tobermory, Back Brae was closed due to floods and debris.
Ulva Primary School closed for the day as a result of the Mull landslide.
On the isle of Jura a landside also blocked the A846 Lagg Brae road.
There was localised flooding in Campbeltown, with motorists being advised to take care.
